On July 19, Taber/Vauxhall RCMP were made aware of a donation scam that occurred in Barnwell.

The complainant received a phone call at his residence, wherein the caller identified himself as a representative for “The Barnwell Community against Drugs” Organization and was looking for monetary donations.

When pressed by the complainant, who had knowledge of the organizations within the community of Barnwell, for more information about this organization the caller hung up. This matter is still under investigation.

Taber/Vauxhall RCMP officers would like to remind the public to check into charities or organizations they wish to donate to before providing any credit card or personal information.

Contamination advisory lifted

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has lifted the contamination advisory for Milk River at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park.

Weekly water testing has confirmed all bacterial levels are now well below maximum acceptable guidelines, meaning water is again safe for swimming and wading.

Alberta Health Services will continue to sample this water as part of routine monitoring practices. Signage posted around the park has also been removed.
