Southwest Alberta
Castle Mountain Resort has now opened for the winter ski season and staff looks forward to another enjoyable year.

“The conditions on the upper mountain are fantastic. We’ve got the best natural snow conditions in Alberta right now. We’ve been getting little bits and pieces, and it hasn’t been used yet,” said Andrew Rusynyk, assistant general manager recently.

In particular, added Rusynyk, the snow in the far north area is being described as “amazing.”

“Overall, Castle Mountain has the best coverage and best conditions of any resort in Alberta.

“The lifts opened at 9 a.m. Dec. 16 and as people finished the day they came by the office with a big smile stating that conditions were great.”

Lifts are open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. Christmas Day will see the lifts running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Santa is known to be an avid skier, so watch for him on the slopes.”

From Dec. 26 through to Jan. 8, lifts will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Red Chair closes at 3:30 p.m. every day.

“More terrain will be open, as it is made safe for the public to play on. With a little help from Mother Nature, the infamous south chutes will be open very soon.”
