Preparations for the upcoming ski season have been well underway at Castle Mountain Resort. Crews have been working at the hill since the summer time to get things ready for the winter ski season.

“Preparations are going great. We had a tremendous summer with contractors working on the mountain cleaning up trails, fencing and opening up glades,” says Jason Crawford, sales and marketing manager for the resort. “We’ve renovated the lower level of the lodge. Maintenance on lifts and snow cats is on schedule.”
Over the summer, there were contractors working on several projects. As well, Crawford says they built a new website.
The targeting opening date for the ski hill is Dec. 16, but of course that is weather-dependent.
It appears Mother Nature will be bringing the snow, so that’s a positive thing for the upcoming ski and snowboard season.
“All the forecasts we’ve seen to date are calling for a big winter. We’re going to help things along with a Snow Gods Party on Dec. 9 at the T-Bar Pub,” adds Crawford.
Last season was good for Castle Mountain Resort, with the season starting and ending strong.
Even with the warmer weather last year, there was still a significant amount of snow at Castle Mountain.
The early season and late season powder days ‘“were what dreams were made of” explains Crawford.
This year is predicted to be a colder winter than the province has seen in a while and although some people are dreading this, those at Castle Mountain and ski lovers are excited for a great season ahead.
As of Nov. 24, Crawford says they’re on target for the budgeted season passes for this year.
“We currently have our Cruisin’ the Castle Cards on sale now, which are starting to pick up as we get closer to Christmas and opening day. They are very popular Christmas presents,” says Crawford.
Each year, the staff at Castle Mountain get excited for the upcoming ski season, to showcase the resort and see everyone once again, including new and returning visitors.
“We’re hoping for lots of snow and lots of smiling faces. We have lots of events scheduled and we’re excited to see everyone’s faces again,” adds Crawford.
