Partial fire ban applied to County of Newell

Due to the following conditions the Fire & Emergency Services Co-ordinator for the County of Newell has issued  “A Partial Fire Ban” for the entire County of Newell as of 1:45 p.m., January 5 :

There are:
 
• Dry vegetation conditions
• High winds
• No snow cover 
 
A Partial Fire Ban as stated in the County of Newell No. 4 Bylaw #1700-10 is defined as “No Fires except for approved cooking appliances or campfires in designated fire sites within campgrounds.”  
 
Fire Guardians will now refuse to issue new Fire Permits until the Fire Ban is lifted and any existing permits are hereby cancelled. All existing fires must be extinguished immediately.
 
When the Fire Ban is lifted, all County Residents are reminded that a signed Fire Permit is required prior to kindling fires on lands. All Permit holders are required to contact your local Fire Department and the Fire Permit Line prior to lighting the fire and follow any recommendations/conditions.
 
This Partial Fire Ban does not cover property contained within the City, Town or Villages located inside the boundaries of the County of Newell or Provincial Parks.
 
This Partial Fire Ban will remain in effect until further notice.
