Brooks

As summer is now upon us, the Brooks RCMP would like to invite all youth and parents to a bicycle safety rodeo to be held at Willowbrook Estates in Brooks. The event will be held in the North parking lot with access from Garrow Avenue on June 25th at 1 p.m.

Members from Brooks Detachment along with Community Peace Officers will give a presentation on bicycle safety including use of hand signals, helmet usage and general rules of the road. Youth are encouraged to bring their bicycles and helmets and participate in the demonstration.
As a reminder to the public, youth are required by law to wear a helmet until the age of 18 while riding a bicycle; however, it is strongly encouraged that riders of all ages wear an approved helmet.

To operate a power bicycle, you must be at least 12 years of age and wear a motorcycle helmet. You do not require a drivers license. Operators under 16 years of age can not carry a passenger and all riders must ride as far to the right side of the roadway as practicable while staying off of sidewalks.

As with any vehicle, riders are reminded that they must follow the rules of the road.
Drivers are asked to watch for riders and to obey speed limits, especially in school and park zones.
If you have any further questions, please contact the Brooks RCMP detachment at (403) 794-4400.
