It’s show and sale time for those in Newell, Special Areas

It’s 4-H livestock show and sale season for those in the South Zone including those in the  Newell County and Special Areas regions.

The Newell and District 4-H Beef Show and Sale takes place May 30 at the Silver Sage Community Corral with a reported 64 head of cattle. It features 4-H members from South Slope 4-H Beef, John Ware 4-H Beef, Dusty Plains 4-H Multi, Tilley 4-H, Jenner 4-H Beef clubs.
Simon, is the donor steer courtesy the Jenner 4-H Beef Club. Simon and Marg Schonhofer donated the calf and Landmark Feeds donated the rations for the calf.
The Monday, May 30 event begins with the weigh in from 7-8:30 a.m., opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m., show at 10:30 a.m., awards at 4 p.m., supper at 5 p.m., and the sale takes place at 6 p.m.

Another sale involving some 4-H members in the Special Areas region takes place in Medicine Hat June 10 at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Fieldhouse starting with the show at 9 a.m. with a reported 40 head. Sale traditionally starts in the early afternoon. Borderline 4-H Multi club members will be joined by members of the Medicine Hat 4-H Beef, Seven Persons 4-H Beef, and Irvine 4-H Beef. Another June 10 sale takes place in Youngstown with 53 head of cattle to be judged and sold. Show time starts at 10 a.m. and the sale begins at 7 p.m. Clubs featured will be East Sounding Creek, Dryland Multi, and Hanna Rangeland. Contact Cory MacMillan at 403-854-6120 if there are any questions.
There is also a sheep show and sale for those in the Newell region. On June 17 at the Silver Sage Arena a sheep show starts at noon with the sale at 7 p.m. featuring 19 sheep. Sheep projects will be from Brooks and area 4-H Beef, Tilley 4-H Multi, and South Slope 4-H Beef clubs. Those looking for more information can contact Nikki Peltzer at 403-793-1663.
