Agribition kicks off year of firsts

In the coming week, Canadian Western Agribition (CWA), Western Canada’s largest agribusiness trade show, is putting the emphasis on the “first” part of its 41st anniversary. 

CWA General Manager and CEO Marty Seymour promises a week-long show that will be “bigger and better than ever.”
“While Agribition is a major agribusiness show, it is also the largest indoor trade show of any kind in Saskatchewan. We have worked hard this year to develop promotions and events to appeal to urban and rural guests alike.”

Festivities start off with the Official Opening Burning of the Brand is in the Brandt Centre on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m., with special guest Saskatchewan Minister of Agriculture Bob Bjornerud.

First-time events at Agribition will include:
- High School Rodeo events in the CCA finals

- Grand Opening of the First Nations Pavilion, Tuesday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m.

- Inaugural First Nations night at the Rodeo on Tuesday, November 22

- Launch of the Winners Circle auctioneers competition on Tuesday evening.

- First-ever visit by national TV host Rick Mercer to Agribition on Tuesday. Mercer will be participating in the Winners’ Circle, rodeo and other events.

- Launch of a host of other theme nights at the rodeo, including Rider Night, Pats Night and Community Giving Night
These premiere events are in addition to the usual fun and festivities at Agribition as well as its famous mega-trade show covering 250,000 square feet.
“Our slogan this year sums it up: Fun, Food, Shopping –Agribition is for everyone!” Seymour said.
