(CNW) —Meals in the Field, produced by United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative Ltd., is a new limited edition cookbook highlighting hardy farm-style recipes submitted throughout the summer by UFA members, customers, agents and employees.

The 184-page cookbook is a modern version of UFA’s original cookbook, first published in 1928 by the United Farm Women of Alberta (UFWA).
The UFWA cookbook produced nine editions and eventually sold more than 125,000 copies across Canada, the United States, Great Britain and throughout the world.
“Telling the story of agriculture and sharing its history is more important than ever as we talk about raising the profile and educating consumers on where their food comes from,” says UFA Chairman Kevin Hoppins. “We all have a role to play in ‘agvocating’ for agriculture in Alberta, and to do so UFA is proud to bring back this little piece of history.”
Meals in the Field features recipes from the original UFWA cookbook throughout its pages, reflecting the heritage and traditions of early settler communities in Alberta, and compiles some of the best classic recipes that farm families are known for serving. The Meals in the Field Cookbook is available for purchase at all UFA petroleum agencies, and at UFA Farm & Ranch Supply stores for $20
