The area at risk of economically significant sawfly populations in 2013 will be limited to only a few areas. The 2012 field margin survey shows low populations in most of the area surveyed including the traditional sawfly areas in the Special Areas.

From drought to excess moisture to disease pressure, 2012 offered a variety of cropping challenges across the Prairies.

Dutch Elm Disease confirmed in Maple Creek

In August 2012, for the first time a single American elm tree was diagnosed positive for Dutch elm disease (DED) in the Town of Maple Creek. Maple Creek is only 100 kilometers east of the City of Medicine Hat. The news was announced Jan. 21.

Not long after wrapping up its first-ever regional meetings and elections, and with its newly-elected board of directors and regional representatives in place, the Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) is preparing for its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Great Sandhills Terminal (GST) Board of Directors wishes to announce Jim Major has retired as a full time employee of GST.  

The Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) elected its new board of directors and executives in December.
On Dec. 3-5, the ABP held its annual general meeting where successes, issues and resolutions were discussed along with elections.
