4-H show and sale season coming in the region

It’s the 4-H Show and Sale season in southeast  Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Agriculture was front and centre at the Medicine Hat College May 5 as the Entrepreneur Development Centre’s (EDC) Summer Company program celebrated four winning entries receiving grants for start-up businesses. Each of those companies received the full grant of $10,000.

Alberta producers enter the 2016 crop production season with many of the same questions and concerns as last year and maybe more so.

Applications for the 2016-17 term of the Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) Beef Researcher Mentorship Program are now being accepted.

When Earl’s announced it could not find a large and consistent enough supply of Canadian beef that met its criteria, there was a quick and emotional backlash. Yet, Earl’s sourcing decision also highlights Canada’s need for a more diversified beef system that would create more value for both farmers and consumers.
