Semenoff is the real deal — a renowned expert on quantum mechanics, quantum field theory, statistical mechanics and string theory — and he was born and raised in Pincher Creek.

Vauxhall youth receives prestigious APEX award

The APEX Youth Awards were recently held in Taber, honouring those who make positive contributions to their communities and families. Among award recipients was Miranda Belcastro, a Grade 12 student from Vauxhall High School.

Students in Claresholm and Cardston will benefit from modernized schools in their community as a result of an investment in local school infrastructure. Both Willow Creek Composite School in Claresholm and the Cardston Elementary School, in Cardston, will undergo modernizations.

Damage totals increase from grass fire near Nanton

It has been determined that there is a total of five residences which have been destroyed or heavily damaged by fire during yesterday's wind-aided grassfire near Nanton.

The long awaited re-issuing of the local history book for the Pincher Creek area, Prairie Grass To Mountain Pass, will be hitting the streets in mid July.

For those living in the rural area surrounding Granum, fires that engulfed Slave Lake earlier this year brought back nightmares of the devastating grass fires they dealt with in 1997.
However, the fires also reminded members of the Spring Point Community Society about the generosity of others, so they decided to pay it forward.
