Lightning may have caused fire in Swift Current

Shortly after 1 a.m. today, the Swift Current Fire Department responded to a 911 call from the 500 block of 1st Avenue NE. Upon arrival, a wall of the home was on fire. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately one hour to ensure there were no hidden flames in the walls or attic spaces.

Gull Lake
The Swift Current Rural RCMP detachment are asking for the public's assistance in solving the following matter. Sometime between Friday June 3rd-June 6th, 2011 someone dumped crude oil into the Gull Lake Lagoon (water treatment). The incident caused wildlife to die and an extensive amount of funding was needed to clean up the oil spill.


A nine year-old boy has drowned at Prairie Lake Regional Park.
