New Brigden School will be one of four schools in Alberta to be part of a research project studying the success of small, rural schools.

Officials with Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) were looking forward to showing the new Alberta Minister of Education one of their schools and speaking with him about the positive initiatives taking place as well as some of the challenges.

Funding given back to school boards with the election of new Alberta Premier Allison Redford, will be heading back to Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) classrooms, just as new Minister of Education Thomas Lukaszuk had said the money should be used.

The Prairie Rose School Division will guarantee up to $300,000 in funding for enhanced renovations and modernization of Senator Gershaw High School in Bow Island, but expects to provide only about $150,000 of that if community fundraising comes through.
