Fraud Prevention Month (FPM) gives private and public organizations involved in the fight against fraud an opportunity to raise public awareness.  According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center, Canadians reported more than 47,000 complaints and lost more than $62 million dollars to frauds perpetrated through Identity Theft and Mass Marketing schemes in 2011.

Massive gun seizure at Coutts border crossing

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today the seizure of a large cache of firearms and weapons. CBSA officers at the Coutts, Alberta port of entry seized 75 firearms, including 48 handguns — four of which were loaded — one blowgun, one pistol crossbow and 12 high capacity magazines. This is the largest handgun seizure in the history of the port of Coutts.

A Nanton man has died from an apparent drug overdose over the weekend.

On Jan. 18 at approximately 9:30 a.m, Lethbridge RCMP along with Lethbridge EMS responded to a serious, single vehicle collision on Hwy 5 at approximately Township Road 8-2A.

RCMP announced Monday afternoon that they have located the deceased remains of Otto 'Bunty' Loose. A 35-year-old male and an 28-year-old female have been arrested by RCMP investigators and are expected to be charged with his death.
