Agribition kicks off year of firsts

In the coming week, Canadian Western Agribition (CWA), Western Canada’s largest agribusiness trade show, is putting the emphasis on the “first” part of its 41st anniversary.

The Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act, Bill C-18, was tabled in the House of Commons. Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz introduced a Bill that would give Western Canadian wheat, durum, and barley farmers the freedom to market their grain as they choose.

New greenhouse opening at SPARC Oct. 20

The official opening of the new Semiarid Prairie Agricultural Research Centre (SPARC) greenhouse will take place on Oct. 20, from 1-3:30 p.m. The public is invited for a ribbon cutting ceremony and to tour the new facility.

Premier Brad Wall and University of Saskatchewan (U of S) President Peter MacKinnon officially opened the International Vaccine Centre (InterVac) at the Saskatoon campus Sept. 16.
