Riverhurst Ferry celebrates 50 years of operation

This is a historic year for the Riverhurst Ferry.  Originally commissioned on July 14, 1967, the Riverhurst Ferry recently celebrated 50 years of operation.

Dorie’s House is a project 35 years in the making. Its mandate is to offer temporary emergency housing to youth ages 14-17, who, for one reason or other, “fall between the cracks of the system.”

Those who help seniors recognized by government

The Minister’s Seniors Service Awards recognize Albertans who improve the lives of seniors through their volunteer service. This year, 48 individuals and 12 organizations are nominated for the 2017 Minister’s Seniors Service Awards.

With many child care organizations switching over to non-profit throughout the province to gain better support from the government, administrators at the Bee Hive childcare centre in Picture Butte have too decided to make the switch.

A big project is underway for Hillview as the community continues to move forward with the development of several sports fields.

SEASAR gets some financial assistance; AGM Sept. 28

A donation of $5,000 from South Country Co-op Limited is providing a critical lifeline for a local search and rescue group.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) advises travellers that the Chief Mountain port of entry will close for the season at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 30.
