South West Victim Services hosts regional relay, April 24, 2015

Written by

The weeklong South West Victim Services regional relay concluded with a ceremony at the Kinetic Park Stockade in Swift Current on April 24. The event took place in communities across southwest Saskatchewan to raise awareness about victims of crime. This was the first time a regional relay took place in Canada during National Victims of Crime Awareness Week from April 19 to 25. South West Victim Services Coordinator Wayne Johnston presented the proclamations signed by communities in support of the awareness week to Cypress Hills-Grasslands MP David Anderson. Community walk-a-thons took place in 10 communities across the region during the week and cyclists participated in two highway relays from Gull Lake to Swift Current and from Morse to Swift Current. Participants walked or cycled a total distance of over 8,000 kilometres during the week.
