The 5th annual Cramer Livestock Crop and Livestock Expo took place at Kinetic Exhibition Park in Swift Current, Feb. 19. The event is an opportunity for producers from across southwest Saskatchewan to interact with a variety of agricultural suppliers. There were 93 booths at this year's event, representing 69 different companies. The expo has grown significantly since it started five years ago with 22 exhibitors. A highlight of the event is the Cramer Cup Series with awards for entrants in the baking, egg grading, forage and hog carcass competitions. Grading Auditor Jason Care of Manitoba Hog Grading did the grading of the 24 carcasses entered in the hog carcass competition. The top three carcasses were auctioned for charity and the meat from all the carcasses were donated to various charities, including the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina and local charities such as Southwest Crisis Services and the Swift Current Salvation Army. The expo included a number of 4-H events that were attended by 4-H members from clubs across southwest Saskatchewan. Masterfeeds Territory Manager Kurtis Reid made a presentation on the judging of cattle and afterwards the club members evaluated four Black Angus bulls. This was followed by a clipping and grooming demonstration by Lexie Girodat, who lives on a ranch near Gull Lake. She has been a member of the Clairbank 4-H club for 16 years.
