Centennial celebrations at the Swift Current Airport, July 10, 2014

Written by

The Swift Current Airport was a hive of activity on July 10 with century celebrations hosted by the South West Flying Club. The event was organized to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Swift Current's city status. Activities during the day included plane rides, a Second World War walking tour and a display of vintage cars. The event coincided with the start of the Century Flight Club's annual cross-Canada tour, which used the Swift Current Airport as the starting point for the trip. The highlight of the day was an aerobatic show by professional air show pilot Dave Mathieson from Chilliwack, B.C., in his high-performance two-seat tandem sport aircraft, the Scheyden MX2.
