Swift Current Oratorio Choir spring performance, April 13, 2014

The Swift Current Oratorio Choir (SCOC) performed Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater, a meditation on the suffering of Mary as she stands beneath the cross where Jesus is crucified, with Canadian mezzo-soprano Renée Brad and the Regina Symphony Chamber Players, directed by Greg McLean, at the Bridgeway Community Church, April 13. The choir's spring performance also included Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria in D major with Brad and lyric soprano Jordanne Erichsen as soloists. SCOC members previously performed the Stabat Mater at Carnegie Hall in New York on Jan. 20, when they participated in a mass choir performance to celebrate Jenkins' 70th birthday. SCOC members who perform as the auditioned choral group Prairie Spirit Chamber Singers will be in concert at the Swift Current Art Gallery on May 8, The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at Pharmasave.
