The Swift Current & District Music Festival Association's Xtravaganza, which took place at the Church of the Open Bible on April. 6, concluded three weeks of competition with an evening of musical performances and award presentations to the winners in numerous categories, including vocal and musical theatre, choral and band, piano, guitar and strings. The major festival awards were presented to Iris Gosiengfiao (most promising junior piano), Chloe Golden (most promising intermediate piano), Presley Reddekopp (outstanding performance for intermediate piano), Brennan Schommer (outstanding performance for intermediate voice), Lauren Levorson-Wong (most promising intermediate musical theatre), Madisson Andrzejewski (most distinguished senior piano) and Austin Castle (most distinguished senior strings). Festival adjudicators recommended Presley Reddekopp (piano), Lauren Levorson-Wong (vocal), Brennan Schommer (vocal and brass) and Austin Castle (strings) for the provincial finals competition while the SCCHS Meistersingers and SCCHS Chamber Singers were recommended for the Saskatchewan level of national competition. The Swift Current music festival, which started in 1929, is one of 48 similar competitions taking place annually around the province.
