British fundraising adventurer arrives in Swift Current, Nov. 24, 2013

Written by

British fundraising adventurer Jamie McDonald arrived in Swift Current on Nov. 24 on his current mission to cross Canada from east to west by running without any support team. His goal is to complete his 5,000 mile "Run for the Future" trip in 275 days. Swift Current resident Warren Dudar went out to Rush Lake to run with McDonald. Nine-year-old Amisha Hockridge of Swift Current, who is the 2013 Champion Child of the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, welcomed McDonald to the city. Const. Manuel Borges presented a cheque of $495 to McDonald. The money was collected by members of the City of Swift Current and Leader RCMP detachments. McDonald is running to raise funds for different children's hospitals or foundations in each province in Canada and donations in the United Kingdom will go towards British charities Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and the Pied Piper Appeal.
