Families enjoyed outdoor activities on a bright winter's day during a fun community event to kick of the annual Ability Bowl fundraiser in Swift Current. The SaskAbilities Swift Current branch hosted the 2018 Ability Bowl Winter Kickoff at ACT Park, Feb. 25. The event featured sled bowling, snow zumba, ice skating and horse wagon rides, while participants could take a break to enjoy chili and hot chocolate. This is the second year that the event was held to start the fundraising activities for and to raise awareness about the upcoming Ability Bowl. The 31st annual Ability Bowl in Swift Current will take place on April 21 and this year's fundraising goal is $75,000. Each Ability Bowl has a theme to add more fun to the day and teams can dress for the event to fit in with the theme. This year the beach will be coming to the bowling alley with the theme Beach Bowl. Swift Current ACT/UCT was the major sponsor of the kickoff event on Feb. 25. Club representatives were in attendance for a cheque presentation of $500 for the kickoff and the organization is also supporting the Ability Bowl with a donation of $2,500. Other sponsors of the Winter Kickoff were ServiceMaster, KIVA, Smoke Shack and Pebble Ridge Percherons.
