Harvesting for Canadian Foodgrains Bank at Lone Tree community project, Sept. 11, 2017

Harvesting took place at the Lone Tree community project northeast of Swift Current, Sept. 11, 2017. The 157 acres was seeded with durum and delivered a crop of 17 bushels per acre. The Lone Tree project is one of two community projects coordinated by the Grasslands Growing Project to raise funds for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. The other project, the Stewart Valley community project, was harvested a few days earlier. The 135 acres for that project was seeded with canola and produced a crop of close to 35 bushels per acre.
