Written by

Three trucks from Swift Current joined trucks from Saskatoon for Special Olympics Saskatchewan’s 11th annual World’s Largest Truck Convoy in Regina, Sept. 9. It was the first time since the start of this fundraising event that Swift Current became a location for the official convoy kickoff. In previous years the convoy travelled from Saskatoon to Regina. The three trucks from Swift Current was joined by about 20 trucks in Moose Jaw. A similar number of trucks travelled from Saskatoon and a total of 41 trucks participated in the final celebration event at the Turvey Centre in Regina, which included a barbeque, entertainment and a truck pull. The event raised over $23,500 for Special Olympics Saskatchewan. Swift Current Special Olympics athlete Harold Robinson (pictured in yellow t-shirt) was the largest individual fundraiser for the event. He raised $1,700 in pledges and received the honour of travelling in the convoy’s lead truck, which was from Austin’s Courier in Swift Current.
