Written by

The Swift Current Branch Library celebrated the start of the TD Summer Reading Club, a program of Canadian public libraries, with an opening party, July 6. Children participated in a variety of activities during the afternoon, including different pioneer games such as hoop roll and ring toss, as well as milking a cardboard cow. The goal of the TD Summer Reading Club is to encourage children to read over the summer. There are different TD Summer Reading Club activities for children between the ages 2-13 at the library on every Tuesday at 2 p.m. from July 11 to Aug. 8. The summer program will conclude with a wrap-up party at 1 p.m. on Aug. 11, when children can read a story to Shimmer, the literacy donkey. For more information about the summer program activities, contact the Swift Current Branch Library at 306-778-2752 or visit the library website at http://swiftcurrentlibrary.ca
