29th Annual Southwest Crisis Services Duck Derby in Swift Current, June 4, 2017

Written by

The 29th annual Southwest Crisis Services Duck Derby took place at Riverside Park in Swift Current on June 4 in conjunction with Innovation Credit Union's annual Picnic in the Park. The community showed great support for the duck derby and 1,557 plastic ducks were dropped into the creek to float down to the finish line at Lee Lam bridge. This was double the number of ducks sold for last year's event. This year's duck derby also included a 50/50 raffle and the total proceeds were $12,857.50. This is three times the amount raised at last year's event. The funds will be used to support Southwest Crisis Services programs and services, including the safe shelter, crisis line, outreach programs for women, men, children, youth, families and couples, as well as violence prevention education and second-stage housing.
