Southwest Soccerfest in Swift Current, May 26-28, 2017

The 2017 Southwest Soccerfest took place in Swift Current from May 26-28. The tournament was hosted by the Swift Current United Soccer Club (SCUSC) and the Swift Current Soccer Association. It was attended by 32 teams, including 11 local teams. They played in eight divisions from U-10 to U-16. The U10 boys SCUSC Strikers finished in first spot in the four-team round robin, but lost 1-0 to the Queen City Black team in the final. The SCUSC U10 girls won their division against teams from Regina and Weyburn. In the U12 girls division the SCUSC White team placed second out of five teams with three wins. The SCUSC Lightning advanced to the final in the U12 boys division, but lost 4-0 against the Medicine Hat Barca. The three teams in the U16 boys division each finished with two wins and two losses, but the SCUSC team placed third based on the scoring formula. The SCUSC U16 girls won gold and remained undefeated in their three-team division after four matches against teams from Moose Jaw and Regina.
