PBR Invitational in Swift Current, May 27, 2017

Bull riders from across the world competed at the 2017 Cody Snyder Professional Bull Riders Inc. (PBR) Invitational in Swift Current, May 27. This year’s event took place outdoors at Kinetic Exhibition Park instead of at the Innovation Credit Union i-plex. The change of venue was necessary due to the current replacement of the main arena ice floor slab at the i-plex. Brock Radford of Dewinton, Alberta, won this year’s Swift Current PBR Invitational. His first trophy buckle at a PBR Canada event took place on his 22nd birthday and he earned $6,043.50 in prize money. Radford was the only bull rider to hold on for the required eight seconds to score points during the final round. He was in fifth spot after the first round with a score of 83 points. He scored 78 points during the second round and there were no other qualified rides, which gave him a total of 161 points on two bulls. Jordan Hansen of Okotoks, Alberta, who had the highest score of 86.5 points after the first round, finished second overall and third overall was New Zealand bull rider Fraser Babbington. Saskatchewan bull rider Cody Coverchuk of Meadow Lake finished fourth on 85 points.
