The Swift Current United Way's 2nd annual Foundation of Hope Gala achieved its goal to raise $100,000 in support of 11 non-profit community programs. The elegant evening of dining and dancing took place at the Living Sky Casino Sky Centre, Nov. 5. Tickets to the event, which had a masquerade ball theme, were already sold out two months ago. Matt's story, a video to raise awareness about mental health, was launched at the event. Presentations were made to the 11 non-profit organizations that will receive funding from Swift Current United Way in 2016. A silent and live auction took place during the evening and people could win a mystery prize by buying $20 bricks for the wall of hope. Skip Neufeld was the auctioneer for the live auction. Saskatoon indie/folk musician Kirby Criddle provided musical entertainment during the meal. Performing with her were vocalist Amanda Proznik and Eli Temple on guitar. The Stone Frigate Big Band, an 18-piece swing band from Saskatoon, provided the music after the live auction.
