The Daughters of the Nile Aurora Club No. 5 in Swift Current held the draw for their 5th annual lottery ticket sale on Oct. 13 with the help of their queen. Jacki Capper, the 2016 queen of Sakkara Temple No. 115, came from Calgary for the draw. She was accompanied by 11 other Sakkara Temple members from Calgary as well as four members from Medicine Hat and three from Biggar for the visit, which started with a luncheon and meeting on Oct. 12. This year's ticket sales by the Swift Current club members went very well. Sales started in March and all 2,400 tickets were sold out in May. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The $600 first prize winner was Vicki Thistlethwaite of Stewart Valley, the $250 second prize went to Mark Torrance of Elrose and the $150 third price ticket belonged to Elaine Schapansky of Swift Current. The prize money for next year's lottery will increase significantly, starting with a $1,000 first prize, a second prize of $800 and a third prize of $700.
