Fun Muddy Mayhem raising funds for Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation's Radiothon, Sept. 29, 2016

Swift Current's inaugural Fun Muddy Mayhem took place on Sept. 29 as part of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation's 2016 Radiothon to raise funds for health care needs in the Cypress Health Region. Fourteen teams participated in the event, which consisted of an obstacle course challenge with various tasks. Teams had to pull an ambulance, carry sandbags and poles, crawl through culverts, climb over a bale wall, swing on monkey bars and crawl through mud to complete the course. Each team paid a registration fee of $500 that they could pay themselves or raise through pledges. The 28-hour Radiothon broadcast took place on Sept. 29 and 30 in the atrium of the Cypress Regional Hospital and raised a total of $98,091. The funds from this year's Radiothon will be used to replace the operating tables in both operating rooms at the Cypress Regional Hospital and to purchase a new defibrillator for the operating rooms. Last year there were 2,127 surgeries at the hospital and the current operating tables have been in use for 11 years.
