Flag raising for Saskatchewan Abilities Council Awareness Week in Swift Current, Sept. 19, 2016

The City of Swift Current has proclaimed Sept. 18-24 as the Saskatchewan Abilities Council Awareness Week in the city. A community barbecue fundraising event with live entertainment and information booths took place at Market Square, Sept. 22. Proceeds from this event will be used to support the programs and services provided at the Swift Current branch of the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. Details about a new program “Volunteering in the Community” was announced at the barbecue. The goal of this program is to give individuals with disabilities the opportunity to pursue their volunteer interests in the community.
