Judging for Swift Current SPCA 2017 calendar, Aug. 25, 2016

Written by

Three celebrity judges had a tough task to select the finalists for the cover and monthly slots of the Swift Current SPCA’s 2017 Pet Calendar at the Swift Current Mall, Aug. 25. The judging was done by professional florist Poppy Parsons, radio personality Ken Audette and City councillor Ron Toles. Sales of the SPCA’s 2016 Pet Calendar will start this fall. The SPCA had a good response from the public to the calendar contest. There were 46 entries for the montly slots and 16 entries for the front cover. “We really want to thank everyone for their support,” Swift Current SPCA Development Officer Teresa Cole said. The next major fundraiser for the animal shelter will be the Stray Soiree fundraising dinner at Walker Place, Oct. 1. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. with “yappy” hour, and a three course catered dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar, silent auction and raffles. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Saskatoon music group Rosie & the Riveters. They have recently released a new album Good Clean Fun! and their appearance at the Swift Current SPCA fundraiser is part of their current tour to venues across Canada and the USA. Tickets are $55 each or $400 for a table of eight, and available at Pharmasave.
