A fire next to the railway tracks on Swift Current's west side on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 18, resulted in a disruption of traffic along South Railway St W while firefighters were busy to bring the fire under control.

 

The City of Swift Current Fire Department, Rural Municipality #137 Fire Department, EMS and RCMP were the key responders in association with a number of other organizations during the Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) exercise that took place at the Swift Current Airport on Sept. 6, 2012.

The exercise consisted of a simulated two-plane collision. Simulated casualties were transported to the Cypress Regional Hospital to evaluate the Cypress Health Region's mass casualty protocols.
