The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) will  bring some of the greatest classical music of all time to the stage when it takes a trip to Medicine Hat.

Cenovus Energy Presents the CPO featuring Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre on May 14 starting at 7:30 p.m.
Popular works from Mozart and Beethoven are on the menu at this exciting concert, which features guest pianist Ronda Lun. Lun won the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the CPO when she was named the winner of the RBC Concerto Competition in 2012.
“Cenovus is pleased to present the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in Medicine Hat,” said Leanne Courchesne, group lead community investment.
“We believe in providing the opportunity for southern Alberta communities to enjoy performances they might not otherwise get a chance to see. We strive to be innovative in all that we do at Cenovus, including the way that we support the communities where we live and work.”
Led by CPO Resident Conductor Adam Johnson, this concert features Mozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro, Beethoven’s famous Symphony No. 5, and Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor.
Medicine Hat is one of several Alberta communities the CPO visits as part of its Education and Outreach program. The CPO reaches more than 20,000 people yearly throughout Alberta with outreach concerts.
“As an Orchestra, we love sharing our passion for great music, and it’s exciting to play for diverse audiences in different halls and communities,” Johnson says.
“My first orchestral experience came through an outreach concert, and I’m thrilled to now have the opportunity to pass that concert experience on in Medicine Hat.”
Tickets to this concert are $39 and are available through the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre at
