Internationally known for putting on one of the best live shows in the world, Scotland-based celtic-fusion band The Peatbog Faeries will bring their energetic performance to Swift Current on March 14 as the final special concert of this year’s Blenders season.

Formed in 1991, The Peatbog Faeries has experimented through many line-up and style changes to create their blend of celtic-fusion music, mixing traditional celtic music with other genres such as funk, electronic, reggae, and rock. Their sound is created through a mix of programmed effects and traditional celtic arrangements, played on bagpipes, fiddles, and whistles. This provides a diverse, unique sound, filled with vast instrumentation that has been impressing audiences around the world for years.
In 2012, The Peatbog Faeries were nominated for Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, having already twice won Live Band of the Year at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards. The band was one of the first three bands to be inducted into the new Hebridean Celtic Festival Hall of Fame, along with Runrig and Julie Fowlis, in 2011.
The band’s music has been used for several TV and DVD soundtracks, and they were even commissioned by Scottish Ballet for an original piece, performed for the first time in Glasgow’s Citizen’s Theatre.
However, the band is also well-known outside of their homeland.
They have represented Visit Scotland in events in New York, Sydney, Barcelona, and Amsterdam, and have appeared at international events in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Singapore, Borneo, Namibia, Botswana, and most European countries.
The band is excited to return to Canada to share their undeniable, upbeat songs with new audiences. With their excellent stage presence and exciting music, The Peatbog Faeries are sure to fill the dance floor at any show they play.
On March 14, the Peatbog Faeries will perform a special concert at the Lyric Theatre in Swift Current, presented by Blenders. Doors open at 8 p.m., with music beginning at 9 p.m. Tickets for the show are $40, and can be purchased at Pharmasave. Innovation Credit Union is proud to offer a $10 rebate to all its members. Show a credit union cheque, Member Card or MasterCard® at the concert and receive a $10 refund on the ticket.
