Fasten your seat belts folks as The Flippin’ Fiddler Scott Woods and his band will soon be in the area with an incredible old time show called Swingin’ Fiddles.

To say that The Scott Woods Show is ‘just a fiddle concert’ would be an injustice.  Woods, a two-time Canadian Grand Master Fiddle Champion and a two-time Canadian Open Fiddle Champion does more than just play fiddle tunes.  He likens his show to that of Don Messer’s Jubilee, which ran on CBC from 1957 to 1969.  “Basically what Don Messer did and what we do is an old time variety show,” explains Woods, “similar to what they used to do on the radio or on television in the early days.  They’d have singing and then an instrumental and then some dancing and some comedy.”   Woods was the musical director and played the part of Don Messer for seven years with ‘Memories of Don Messer’s Jubilee’ that toured extensively throughout Canada.
Swingin’ Fiddles is a live, two hour uplifting show that brings alive the music of the 20s – 50s. Old time fiddling, swing, big band, country and gospel fill the program.
Three fiddlers playing in harmony, sensational step dancing, home-spun family humour and Scott’s famous trick fiddling, a trait that earned him ‘The Flippin’ Fiddler’ nickname and a Canadian Novelty Fiddle Championship title, make this an enjoyable show for all ages.
The Scott Woods Show - Swingin’ Fiddles is touring Canada throughout 2013 and will make three stops in this area. Sunday, June 16  2 p.m. at The Taber Civic Centre in Taber; Monday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. at The Monarch Theatre in Medicine Hat; and Tuesday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at The Royal Canadian Legion in Swift Current.
