Tickets are on sale for this year's Long Day's Night music festival, which features a strong lineup of headlining performers and also includes fantastic opening acts from right here in Saskatchewan – including Swift Current's Over The Air.

“It's a really great lineup this year, and we only have a limited number of early bird passes available,” noted organizer Shann Gowan. “I am expecting that those will go pretty quickly, because we do have some big names coming to Swift Current.”

The festival will kick off on June 20 with a performance by Taj Weekes & Adowa, a reggae band based out of New York City. Weekes, a native of St. Lucia, has toured in Canada before, and Gowan is excited to bring his roots-reggae music to Swift Current. Thursday's opening act will be Descalso.

June 21 will feature New Brunswick's Tom Fun Orchestra, a seven-piece party band who put on an incredible live show. Young Benjamins will be opening Friday night's performance.

Saturday night, Over The Air will be opening for Hollerado, a Juno-nominated pop-punk / rock band from Ontario. This young, energetic group recently toured with other Canadian alternative rock groups Billy Talent and Sum 41.

Serena Ryder will be the final performance of Long Day's Night this year, on June 23. Ryder has won multiple Juno awards, and has performed with acts like Steve Earle, Melissa Etheridge, Aerosmith, 54-40, and Elton John.

“It's really amazing to see performers of this level coming to play in Swift Current, for another great four nights of fantastic music,” Gowan said. “It's great for us to present one more night of music after a busy Sunday at Windscape, and the opportunity to get Serena Ryder was just too good to pass up. It's a lineup we've been trying to get for a while, with four very different styles of music.”

Free rides home will be provided once again by SGI, ensuring that everyone makes it home from the field safely. Long Day's Night has once again seen very generous sponsorship from the community, and Gowan is hoping that people continue to show their support by purchasing tickets for the weekend.

“The timing of this festival is great, it's a nice way to kick off the summer,” noted Gowan. “It's totally different from anything else we have offered in Swift Current, with a really unique atmosphere. People of all ages come out and dance and have a great time, and we are excited to bring some great acts to the stage this year.”

Tickets are available at Pharmasave in Swift Current, or on A limited number of early bird festival passes will be available for $85 until May 15, and passes are $100 after May 15. Individual tickets are also available.
