The Blenders Music Series is pleased to host Lanikai on Saturday, October 21.

The concert is held at the Lyric Theatre and will feature this new Canadian band who has a lush, sparkling, alt-pop vibe, and swaggering ‘60s soul groove to create a timeless, distinctive sound.
Don’t miss out on this unique performance at the Lyric Theatre.
Lanikai hails its name from a Hawaiian beach and like this beach, Lanikai mixes the serene with the stormy. With one foot set in the past and the other in the present, Lanikai sets itself apart from their contemporaries. They bend rather than break under current trends and celebrate past music influences with subtlety. Led by Marti Sarbit as lead singer, Lanikai also features Gregory Macdonald on keys, Shamus Currie on trombone, Liam O’Neil on saxophone, Tim Iskierski on drums, Drew Jurecka on strings, and Tom Moffet on trumpet.
Lanikai was established when Marti Sarbit (a previous band member of Imaginary Cities) decided to continue with her musical career by creating Lanikai after Imaginary Cities went on an indefinite hiatus. In 2016, Lanikai released their first album entitled Lanikai.
The record bursts with love for its past musical influences and the contrast of human relationships. While the album has some darker moments, it never descends into cynicism and simply celebrates the fact that we’re alive.
The opening act will be the local singer-songwriter Jacqueline Hudec, performing with her brother Rob Hudec. In August 2014, Jacqueline released her debut ep entitled Prairie Girl and received two Saskatchewan Country Music Association nominations for Roots Album and Roots Artist of the Year.
Her warm and soulful voice uncovers reflections of growing up on the Prairies.
Tickets for this concert can be purchased at Pharmasave for $35. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and music will begin at 8:30pm.
