Lethbridge based DJ crew and electronic music production company, BassWorks, along with their partners Unified Vibe and B93.3 will be hosting the 6th Annual Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival (LEMF) on Saturday, August 19th in Galt Gardens park.

From it’s humble beginnings on one small stage in 2011, the festival has grow into a premier downtown summer event that saw close to 5000 people last year.  With 3 stages featuring all the various genres of Electronic Music, LEMF has something for everyone to enjoy.  The addition this year of a live music stage will showcase the talents of those performers who make their music on the fly with all kinds of digital and analog equipment setups.  This year’s festival lineup includes major headliners Stickybuds from Kelowna, B.C. as well as Father Funk from Bristol, England.  As in past years, there will also be a kids zone with an air jump, face painting, balloons, and live graffiti artists hailing from Vancouver.

“Our Vision is to keep LEMF free, family-friendly, and open to all ages because we want people who aren’t typically in the electronic music scene to come out and see what this music and this scene are all about in a beautiful park setting.  It is truly a unique experience not found anywhere else. The festival is on for 12 hours in the heart of downtown and for the past 5 years we have never had any violence or arrests – we are very proud of that”, says Steve Baines, Co-Founder of LEMF.

Electronic Dance Music has been growing in popularity across the globe over the past 20 years, with an explosion in North American over the past 5 years.  “We have so many talented local DJ’s that are all very passionate about their music.  With over 30 acts this year, LEMF gives DJ’s an opportunity to play for family, friends, and the community rather than just in a nightclub or at 18+ festivals.   Everyone involved with LEMF, including the DJ’s, event organizers, and volunteers have a great time sharing the music they love and watching all ages, all demographics, and all races come out and dance together in the heart of the city”, says Baines.

LEMF is a free, all ages event that runs Aug 19th in Galt Gardens Park from 11am-11pm with 3 stages, 30 DJ’s, Beer Gardens, Food & Merchandise vendors, Object Manipulators and a fun-filled Kids Zone. The official LEMF After Party runs until 2am for the 18+ crowd at Studio Nightclub.
