Applications opened at the beginning of September for Alberta children to audition to record with Mary Lambert.

Lambert is a Juno Award nominee and Alberta children have the opportunity to record with her.
After moving to the province five years ago, Lambert wants to continue to give back to Alberta residents with this online audition call.
“I’m doing this to allow every child the opportunity. I usually work with choirs at schools, or groups of children I already know, but this time I wanted to introduce myself to the families in Alberta, since this is the first project I’m recording since moving to Alberta five years ago,” she explains. “I’ve traveled and performed in many communities across the province and I’m hoping to receive submissions from all corners.”
Lambert grew up in Bracebridge, Muskoka, Ont. She later moved to Kingston, Ont. where her four children grew up and she established her career. From there she moved to Alberta where she loves getting to know the families where she performs.
The chosen winners will each receive copies of the new CD called Just Dance that they record with Lambert and one of those CDs will be personally autographed to them.
As well, the winners will have their name posted on Lambert’s website and their names will be placed on the CD insert.
Lambert isn’t just looking for good voices from children. She’s looking for different sounds and laughter as well, to give all children a chance.
“I am looking for three soloists, several pirate sounds or sayings and a few good bits of laughter. I’m looking for unique — sounding children — not necessarily the best voice in the world,” adds Lambert.
Any child is encouraged to enter, whether they can sing well or not. Lambert wanted to open it up to talents besides singing, so every child can have the opportunity to be included.
Online auditions are open until Oct. 14. Applicants are asked to submit a sound file of the best quality and e-mail those to This email address is being protected from spambots. Lambert says each successful applicant will be contacted directly and in most cases, she will travel directly to them or they can make arrangements to meet somewhere convenient for both of them. She has a portable recording device from the recording studio in Ontario that she will be using.
Lambert loves music and children and thought what better way to combine the two than to have an online audition for children to be able to record with her on her next CD.
“I love what I do, because I love children, and music was such a big part of my world growing up, that I enjoy sharing and becoming a small part of this for families. I also love including children in the recording process, as this gives them an opportunity to shine and perhaps have a new experience.
It’s exciting for them,” adds Lambert.
The auditions are open for children of all ages. Children from ages four to eight can submit a recording an acapella version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Any aged child can submit a recording of their best laugh and their best pirate sound or best pirate saying.
For those who would like to send in an audition clip, they can e-mail them to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with a high-quality sound clip along with the applicant’s name, age, address and phone number.
