This year's 75th Annual Frontier Days wrapped up following an impressive performance by Canadian rockers The Trews, on June 30. The band is currently wrapping up their tour, with four more performances before heading back to Toronto to work on their upcoming record.

Students involved with the jazz music program at Swift Current Comprehensive High School recently showcased their talents to the rest of the community with a concert held at the Lyric Theatre on June 12. The evening featured performances by 8 o'clock Jazz, 9 o'clock Jazz, and Vocal Jazz, as well as another vocal combo and two instrumental combos who provided some background music before the show.

Harry Manx hits Lyric stage on April 25

Although he has been in the music business for approximately 40 years, folk musician Harry Manx has only been a professional recording artist for the past fifteen. He will be bringing his extensive experience as an artist to the Lyric Theatre on April 25, as part of the Blenders music series.

Although ticket sales started less than a week ago, country superstar Randy Travis’ upcoming performance at Living Sky Casino is selling out fast. Marketing Coordinator Jacqueline Hudec noted that after only one week, 76% of tickets for the show are sold.

Local musicians are up for Saskatchewan Country Music Awards this year, with eight artists and bands from the southwest nominated in eleven different categories. Founder of the SCMA's Southwest Chapter, Glenna Switzer, is thrilled to see the members of the group seeing the recognition they deserve.
