High-energy Cape Breton quartet Còig are bringing their original folk compositions and contemporary arrangements of traditional Celtic tunes to the Empress Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

The foursome were originally solo artists who came together for the Celtic Colours International Festival tour.
The musicians, and their music, meshed so well they decided to continue touring together as a band. Their folk-inspired songs combine their multi-instrumental talents on the fiddle, viola, piano, guitar, mandolin, mandola, banjo, bouzouki, whistles and flute.
Nominated for the 2015 East Coast Music Award for Roots/Traditional Group Recording of the Year, and the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Award for Traditional Album of the Year before that, this young group of Nova Scotia musicians is captivating audiences with their energy, talent and showmanship.
Join us for Còig’s vibrant performance at the Empress, which is part of the Centre Stage concert series line-up for the 2015-2016 season. Tickets are $35 and available at or by phoning 403-553-4404 (toll-free at 1-800-540-9229).
