Popular Regina mystery novelist, Gail Bowen, returns to kick off the 2015-16 Write Out Loud season at the Lyric on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

She will be reading from her most recent novel, 12 Rose Street.
Often called “the queen of Canadian crime fiction”, Gail Bowen released her fifteenth Joanne Kilbourn mystery, 12 Rose Street, on March 3 of this year.   Bowen has said that she writes from her own sense of indignation about what she sees going on in the world around her, and to unveil “subtle hypocracies” that exist alongside enormous privilege and prejudice.  Set in Saskatchewan, her novels bear a welcome, yet sometimes uncomfortable, resemblance to our own lives and the society in which we live.
“Ten minutes from where I live is North Central.  And that’s a whole different community. As a political person, and as an Anglican, and as a human being, I just find that not right,” Bowen has said. “I tend to write about what worries me.”
Entertainment will be provided by well-known local area musicians, Paula McGuigan and Mark Penner.
Write Out Loud subscriptions are being sold again this year, at a cost of $48 for a package of tickets (so one event is free). In addition, your attendance at any Write Out Loud event will be an entry into a draw for a Kobo at the final event of the season in May, 2016.
This year, two free tickets for each event will be given away on CKSW, so please listen in for a chance to win these tickets.
Please join us for a new and exciting season on Wednesday, September 16 at Swift Current’s Lyric Theatre, 227 Central Avenue North. Doors open at 6:30, with entertainment to begin at 7:00.  Admission is $8.
