Award-winning play Jake’s Gift personalizes the story of so many courageous veterans

On Tuesday Sept. 23, Rosebud Theatre is presenting a special performance of Jake’s Gift as part of its Rosebud Presents series.

Written and performed by Julia Mackey, this show is a multi-award winning drama that tells the story of a Canadian Second World War veteran returning to Juno Beach for the first time to find the grave of his brother who never came home.
While there he encounters Isabelle, a precocious 10-year-old French girl. With her charm and inquisitiveness, she helps Jake confront the ghosts of his past.
Jake’s Gift has been touring for eight years and been performed more than 600 times in approximately 200 communities.
This past summer, it was performed in French on Juno Beach for the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
This show is timeless and continues to touch lives and receive rave reviews from both critics and audience members. At its heart, Jake’s Gift is about the legacy of Remembrance, and makes personal the story behind one soldier’s grave.
