Swift Current born and raised Lorna Crozier will be appearing at a special Write Out Loud event, in cooperation with the Central School Centennial Committee, on Thursday, May 8 at the Lyric Theatre.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with music by Eliza Doyle to begin at 7 p.m.
Crozier is a nationally and internationally known poet and author, and she will be reading from her award-winning memoir Small Beneath the Sky. Published in 2009, the book is an evocative recounting of the author’s early years in Swift Current.
Guy Vanderhaeghe has said of it:  “Lorna Crozier has woven the delicate threads of a particular place, time and family into a powerful, big-hearted, poignant, funny, wise and utterly arresting memoir.”
It is especially appropriate that Crozier returns this year to share this book with us again, during the city’s centennial year. In addition, it is the centennial celebration for Central School, of which she is an alumnus.
Well known local musician Eliza Doyle will provide musical entertainment.
Doyle has been a significant part of the Swift Current music scene for some time, most recently with the much-loved Midnight Roses and the Hard Ramblers.
With just two more Write Out Loud events left for the season, there are only two chances left to enter the draw for the e-readers, to be made at the last event on May 21. Each time you attend, your name is entered in the draw.
