Rosebud, the hamlet 100 kilometres northeast of Calgary, is well known for its theatre productions and the Rosebud School of the Arts, but since 2006, it has also become known for its annual music festival, 15 Minutes of Fame.

Now in its seventh season, the Fifteen Minutes of Fame Music Festival Sept 2 continues with its tradition of providing a showcase for an amazing variety of local musicians as well as some notable musical guests.
This year’s lineup of performers includes Calum Graham, a guitar virtuoso from High River who won first place at the 2012 Canadian Finger-style Guitar competition. Cara Luft, a Juno award-winning Canadian folk/roots singer-songwriter and one of the founding members of the Wailin’ Jenny’s as well as Lewis and Royal, a comic folk duo originating from Rosebud.
Returning to perform again this year is Joal Kamps, who blends storytelling with song writing to create music that is described as Rocky Mountain folk-pop and Justine Vandergrift, with her rich vocals, creative melodies, rhythmic guitar strength and ever-evolving musical arrangements. Some local favorites include Jason Bertch and Divided by J as well as The Peacocks, with their unique blend of sparkling Celtic harp and intricate flute melodies. Aaron Krogman will be opening the festival with songs from his new recording “Looking for an Accomplice” and The Fire Coulee Bandits will also be performing in their own driving Celtic-rock style.
There will also be an abundance of food fare served up by the local restaurants, Wild Horse Jack’s Bistro and Grill and the Thorny Rose Café. As well, there will be an eclectic blend of vendors and a visual arts tent.
The festival runs noon to 9 p.m. Sept. 2 at West Opera House Square in Rosebud, and is appropriate for all ages. It is an outdoor event. Advance tickets can be purchased at rosebudmusicfestival.com. Advance tickets are $18 per person or $45 for families, $20 per person and $50 for families at the gate. This is a cash only event.
