The students from The Dance Studio of Swift Current have now finished a very successful competition season.
They won over $800 in bursaries and brought home several awards.

The final event for The Dance Studio is their year-end recital, A Touch of Class, on June 2nd.
On April 27th and 28th, The Dance Studio competed in The Festival of Friends competition in Swift Current. The dancers worked extremely hard and their effort was rewarded with great results.  With a total of 46 performances over the weekend, the students won seven silver, and 39 gold. Along with the 39 gold awards, 24 received the outstanding performance awards.  Also worth noting is the four adjudicators choice awards and 18 monetary scholarships.
During the May long weekend students from The Dance Studio travelled to Saskatoon to compete at The Great Canadian Dance Challenge.  Dancers participated with studios from Yorkton, Saskatoon and Fort McMurray.  The medal standings after the weekend were as follows: 3 silver, 8 high silver, 22 gold, and 6 high gold.
The Great Canadian dance challenge also holds a “best of the best” at the end of the competition.
Valse, a classical ballet number from The Dance Studio received the second highest mark of the competition and was asked to dance in this final dance off. They placed third overall out of a total of almost 300 dances that took place over the weekend.
Artistic director and studio owner Melissa Wallace says ‘I could not be more proud of my students. The hard work they have put in all year has definitely paid off.  They have grown so much as dancers, and I have enjoyed teaching them.  I would also like to thank all of the parents who have supported The Dance Studio throughout the year, you have all been great.”
