A Green Gable Flavoured Christmas in Rosebud: A generous basketful of Christmas cheer from the creator of Anne of Green Gables!

From the creator of Anne of Green Gables comes a wintery musical tale called An L.M. Montgomery Christmas that finds a group of strangers who find common ground on a train bound to Charlottetown one snowy Christmas Eve in the early 1900s.
They gather around Aunt Theodora and her overflowing basket, and share stories of Christmas miracles past. Based on two short stories by Lucy Maude Montgomery this heartfelt story will weave some special Christmas magic into any holiday season. It will be on stage for most of December.
The play was originally produced by the Chemainus Theatre Festival on Vancouver Island and written by the late Jeremy Tow, and Rosebud artists Jeany Van Meltebeke and David Snider.
Van Meltebek is also directing this RSA student production and says of these “brave” Rosebud artists, “I am so grateful for their investment in bringing these characters to life.”
For Jeany, having the opportunity to direct An L.M. Montgomery Christmas is a loving tribute to Jeremy Tow, who she calls, “a deeply passionate artist, friend, and fellow sojourner of truth.”
Jeany says, “After Jeremy died, Anita (his wife) delivered a manila envelope to David and me that Jer had wanted us to have. Inside was a copy of this play with his notes.”
Based on Montgomery’s two stories, Aunt Cyrilla’s Christmas Basket and Christmas at Red Butte, Jeany and a cast of RSA students have put together a delightful and adventurous Christmas present for the whole family to unwrap.
This will be perfromed from Dec. 1 – 23: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 4:30 pm on the BMO Studio Stage.
